Flying squads remove over 7000 posters
ITANAGAR, Mar 10: The Flying Squads deployed at Itanagar and Naharlagun along with city police and CRPF personnel removed about 7000 posters belonging to various organizations from Naharlagun and Itanagar areas.
Vehicle checking was also carried out by the City Police at various points at Itanagar and Naharlagun area and 81 vehicles have been challaned for violation of various sections of MV Act. Rs.12,200 was realized as fine from the traffic violators. Red beacons fitted on vehicles were also removed and challaned, City SP Seju P. Kuruvilla informed in a release. While informing that City Police will continue the drive, the SP suggested all vehicle owners to get proper number plates fixed on their vehicles and carry all relevant documents.
Transfer and posting
ITANAGAR, Mar 10: In compliance to the Election Commission of India, some IAS and APCS officers have been transferred as District Election Officers cum Deputy Commissioners in the districts.
As per the directions, Ashok Kumar, IAS has been made new DC of Papum Pare district, while Kurung Kumey Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Sahu has been transferred to West Siang. APPSC Secretary B M Mishra and State SSA Project Director Nidhi Srivastava have been made Lohit and East Siang Deputy Commissioner respectively. Further West Siang DC Pige Ligu has been posted as Kurung Kumey Deputy Commissioner.

‘Dissolving assembly not in interest of public’
ITANAGAR, Mar 10: Claiming that dissolving the state assembly was not in public interest, the Arunachal Pradesh Democratic Youth Association (APDYA) has demanded immediate imposition of President’s Rule in the state.
In its memorandum to the Arunachal Pradesh Governor, APDYA alleged that the state assembly has been dissolved eight months before its term is over without any valid reason other than gaining political mileage.
Sniffing political influence in the Chief Secretary’s press statement where he stated that the Chief Minister and his Council of Minister will continue to work/function until installation of a new Government, the Association demanded immediate removal of the CS from the office.
The Association further demanded that Nabam Tuki should immediately vacate the CM’s Bungalow and all Advisors to the Chief Minister, Chairmen and Political Secretary to Chief Minister be removed immediately as they all are allegedly availing advantage of Govt. machineries even after dissolution of the State Assembly.
“Failing to fulfill our demands would compel us to resort to democratic movement in the greater interest of people of Arunachal Pradesh,” the memorandum added.
2nd phase of election training for polling personnel held at Ziro
ZIRO, Mar 10: To equip and acquaint polling personnel including sector magistrates, executive magistrates with Election Commission’s new guidelines the 2nd phase of district level election training program was held in the Conference Hall, Hapoli today.
Addressing the personnel Deputy Commissioner Krishna Mohan Uppu advised the officials to get well acquainted with the election expenditure monitoring mechanism. He exhorted the SSTs and flying squads to install check gates and prevent inflow and outflow of black money. “Do not let money and muscle power waylaid genuine voters,” he appealed.
Addressing the appointed election officials in various capacities as his eyes and ears for the entire election process, he sought cooperation for successful conduct of the election.
The training will be conducted in three phases for polling personnel on March 16 , 23rd and 30 for both Yachuli and Ziro centers. Diet lecturers R.S.Bisht and Umesh Mishra will be the resource persons for the trainings. DIPRO
Farm school established
ITANAGAR, Mar 10: A Farm School was established under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), West Siang by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Basar today.
Attending the inaugural function, former Director of Agriculture Tago Basar recalled the various problems faced by them for establishment of KVKs in the state. He encouraged the farmers to work with devotion and dedication.

Capital DC holds review meeting on election preparedness

NEW DELHI, Mar 10: Elections to the 60-
The decision of the poll body came days after state governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma recommended dissolution of the state Assembly on March 6.
"Having considered all relevant factors, the Commission has decided that simultaneous election to the state legislative assembly for all 60 constituencies of the state would be held along with the 16th Lok Sabha election," an EC order said late this evening.
The three Election Commissioners had met on Friday to discuss the issue.
The Arunachal Pradesh Governor had on Thursday announced the dissolution of the assembly after accepting the recommendation of the state cabinet which demanded holding of state elections.
Lok Sabha elections for the two seats in Arunachal Pradesh will also be held on April 9.
The tenure of the 60-
The notification for the assembly polls will be announced on March 15 while nominations can be filed till March 22.
After scrutiny of papers on March 24, nominations can be withdrawn till March 26.

Six hospitals were activated who received the casualties but as the casualties simulated were much more than 17,000 injured and 900 deaths, the assistance was called from the Central Govt. to send helicopter for shifting the injured in the State. A relief camp was also set up where the evacuees were provided with food, shelter and medical aid.

He also appreciated the suggestion of holding such mock drills in various colleges.

BJP confused over present status of the state Govt
ITANAGAR, Mar 10: Confused over the present status of the state government after the dissolution of the state assembly and the recommendation for simultaneous elections in the state was accepted by the Raj Bhawan, the State BJP today expressed doubt whether there is still a popular government in the state.
BJP in a release said that the party was in a state of confusion regarding the present status of the government as the Raj Bhawan did not make public about the latest position of the government after he accepted the state Cabinet’s decision to dissolve the assembly and recommended for simultaneous poll in the state. While welcoming the state govt.’s decision to hold simultaneous polls in the state, CoSAAP opined that holding of both Lok Sabha and Assembly Polls will not only save huge expenditure but also lessen the agonies of the employees to be engaged in election duty.
Further, enforcement of election ‘Model Code of Conduct’ for six months, if separate polls are conducted, will have adverse effect on the important ongoing projects, the release said.
CoSAAP appealed to all political parties, contesting candidates and poling agents to not harass the employees engaged in the election duties. At the same time, it urged those employees engaged in poll duties to maintain utmost neutrality while performing their duties for smooth and fair conduct of election.

East Siang gears up for elections
PASIGHAT Mar 10: There ought to be conducive atmosphere and citizens have to follow the conditions under which elections would be held, stated DEO Opak Gao today.
While briefing the Sector Officers in the DC’s conference hall here Gao said free and fair elections are possible but certain conditions have to prevail in the district and in the hearts of citizens. No political meeting or procession including a procession of vehicles, use of loud speakers shall be taken out without prior permission of the competent authority. No one will convene, join or constitute an assembly of five or more than five persons in streets, fares, lanes or in open place with a motive to disturb public peace and tranquility.

ITANAGAR, Mar 10: The first phase of training to all polling personnel was conducted at Gumin Kiin at Aalo today.
Attending the poll personnel West Siang District Election Officer Pige Ligu said that the state may go for Parliament and Assembly election simultaneously and all training and preparedness has to be conducted on that line. “We are expecting directive from the ECI very soon basing on recommendation from the Govt. Bogus voters were largely responsible for law and order problem in the past and error free electoral roll worked out recently is likely to minimize gross law and order problem. The role of Presiding Officer assumed special significance in conducting a free and fair election and they should get total clarity of election procedure through phase wise training as even a minor mistake can halt election procedure.”
Assuring polling team of full transportation facilities and protection, he disclosed that any kind of intimidation should be reported to him personally and any kind of law and order problem will not be tolerated at any cost.

Earlier on March 7 last, the DC cum DEO Tarin Dakpe had taken a meeting with the HoDs, nodal officers, metro observers and administrative officers for conduct of ensuing Lok Sabha election in DC’s chamber at Seppa. Elaborate discussions were made on requirement of vehicles, manpower, security personal moving of polling team, EVM etc. and also prepared concrete management plan for smooth conduct of the election. DC cum DEO directed all the officers and officials of East Kameng district to remain in station and report back for duty even those on leave during the process of the election. He also instructed them for strict adherence of the selection conduct/rules.
Dochora Lama, EAC (Eln) divulged that there are 58 polling stations identified as critical, 52 as sensitive, 49 as hyper sensitive and 66 as normal respectively in the district. There are 167 nos. of polling stations with 158 nos. in rural and 9 nos. of urban area having voters. DIPROs
Rural savings campaign organized
ITANAGAR, Mar 10: The Department of Small Savings, Tezu organized a rural savings campaign at Lohitpur (Shivaji Nagar) yesterday to create awareness among the rural masses on various small savings schemes, including Post Office Savings Schemes as well as to mobilize maximum savings in the rural areas where large numbers of potential savers are there.
Addressing the gathering, Jogin Tamai, Political Asst. (TR) cautioned against unscrupulous and bogus financial companies and made them aware of various Post Office savings schemes. He also explained them about the need to save money to meet the requirements of the future as well as to enjoy financial security and peace of mind.
Field Publicity Officer, Department of Small Savings Jotho Yun elaborating the basic objectives of the Rural Savings Campaign, explained the gathering in details about various savings schemes particularly offered by the Government of India through a wide network of post offices across the country. He stressed the need for a practical approach in bringing every section of the household and society into savings net.
He advised the participants not to sway away by the tall claims and false assurance of high returns in a very short period by the bogus financial institutions. He cited the example of some bogus financial companies like Red Cherry, Jeevan Suraksha and Tower Infotech etc., how they embezzled the hard earned money of many depositors in Tezu.
KB Oli, Group Leader (PRSS) explained the participants about the need of savings in the present era of consumerism and advised not to prefer to keep cash at home. He also explained the participants that the Post Office Savings Schemes are structured in such a way that they cater to the need of different sections of the society.

Chief electoral officer should ensure that all the district administration properly implement election model code of conduct. Everybody is aware that during election politicians rampantly violates model code of conduct and tries to woo voters with lure of money and gifts. The flying squad constituted in districts too should strongly carry out monitoring. In Arunachal, often ruling parties are accused of misusing government machinery during election. The election commission should also keep tap of the activities and movements of DEROs and AEROs. These officers should no way be allowed to favour the ruling parties under duress from political bosses. It is hoped that coming assembly and parliament election will be held in free and fair atmosphere. Let democracy prevail and the best leader be elected.

Disbursing stipend in cash
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to draw kind attention of authority concern of education department and state government. It is observed that some of the school headmasters are disbursing stipend money of students in cash that too in very small quantities after much deduction or whatever subtraction, only god knows. Whereas earlier students were forced to open bank account within very short period of time and for this purpose they had incurred more expenditure than what they got in the form of stipend money.
Therefore kindly take note of this voice and ensure that amount of stipend goes in right account as per norms and in right proportion.

Education department, please take note
Dear Editor,
We keep our eyes closed until we fall as a victim to something. Indeed our mind is engulfed with full of selfish and ego thoughts. What I meant to point is that every day in the local dailies, there appears a number of private educational institutes offering a Bachelor Degree, Master Degree, etc. by directly appearing in the final year which makes me to doubt how one could award a three year, two year duration degree in just one year.
Through this letter I pray to the authorities concerned of the education department not to keep watching and waiting ruining the students career until it grow up in large number. Because it is of certain that any frustrated students would be lured by such temptations. So, it is expected that responsible authorities would keep a vigil on such institutes.
